A Gate valve is bi-directional isolating valves allows the water flow in both direction (forward& reverse). Outside screw & yoke connected with gate, mechanism of valve allows/control the water flow by lifting it off which obstruct the water.

Its used at Suction & discharge of a fire fighting pump. Where the hose valve header is located outside or at a distance from the pump and there is danger of freezing, gate valve and drain valve shall be located in the pipeline to the hose valve header.
